Winter Green Shack Program

The free, drop-in program will feature many of the same elements of the popular summer playground program, with trained leaders putting on activities encouraging children aged 6 – 12 and their families to get active during the winter time. You can expect to see anything from outdoor cooking over fires, to snow fort building and snow shoeing, as well as a variety of crafts and games. Families are welcome to attend and will not want to miss out on the special Family Focus weekend afternoons, held every three weeks. We ask that children 5 and under are supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. The Green Shack will run snow or shine in neighbourhood playgrounds, with programs cancelled for severely inclement weather. Remember to dress for the weather! In the event of poor weather, many programs will continue to run in an indoor space adjacent to the playground. We’re grateful to the community groups who have made facilities available. You’ll find a complete December schedule of programs in NW below or at www.edmonton.ca/playgrounds. Please note that programs will not run on Friday December 25 & Saturday December 26 We’re looking forward to seeing you at the park!
